Christine Evangelista sees how 'The Arrangement' seems real
“The Arrangement” may not be a thinly veiled homage to longstanding rumors about Tom Cruise and Scientology — but it’s star Christine Evangelista can see why people might think otherwise.
“I totally understand why people make a comparison like that, but once you watch a few episode you see it’s a unique story with unique characters,” she told us while preparing to host Saturdays’ Polo Hamptons Match & Event at the Southampton Polo Club.
“But I understand why people make that connection,” she added.
In E!’s “The Arrangement” which wrapped its inaugural season last month, Evangelista plays an actress who finds herself in the role of a lifetime when she signs on to pretend to be the girlfriend of a huge movie star who has ties to a bizarre cult, played by Josh Henderson. There have been long running rumors that the Church of Scientology has worked with Cruise to help him find Mrs. Right, which the church has denied.
For Evangelista, even playing Henderson’s fake girlfriend on TV can be confusing.
“We were just in Monte Carlo together and had the most incredible time and its kind of funny, we’re having this really, heavy romantic (on-screen) experience … where he’s proposing to her and flying her all over the place and they’re going to all these dinners together onscreen and offscreen,” she said. “But no, we’re not dating.”
Christine Evangelista, who’s on the cover of Social Life Magazine and hosting a polo tournament in the Hamptons on Saturday, is the cousin of super model Linda Evangelista.
In fact, there are clauses in Evangelista’s real life contract that remind her she’s not on a date when she shoots sexually charged scenes on “The Arrangement.”
“Before you even walk on set there’s lawyers talking to producers and you’re talking to wardrobe and wardrobe is talking to writers about how we’re going to show the sex scenes,” she said. “There are so many people involved in it that its bizarre.”
In real life, Evangelista — a Staten Island native whose cousin is super model Linda Evangelista — will be single and ready to mingle when she simultaneously hosts Saturday’s polo tournament and celebrates being on the latest cover of Social Life magazine. Just don’t ask her about the actual sport of polo.
“I know there’s a horse involved,” she laughed.
