James Van Der Beek says he had his ‘a– grabbed by powerful men'
“Dawson’s Creek” star James Van Der Beek revealed he was sexually harassed as a young man in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey Weinstein.
Van Der Beek, 40, did not say he was a victim of Weinstein, but did share his story that “older, powerful men” grabbed his behind and had sexual conversations with him when he was younger.
“I’ve had my a– grabbed by older, powerful men, I’ve had them corner me in inappropriate sexual conversations when I was much younger…” the actor wrote early Thursday.
“I understand the unwarranted shame, powerlessness & inability to blow the whistle. There’s a power dynamic that feels impossible to overcome,” he wrote.

“What Weinstein is being accused of is criminal,” he continued.
“What he’s admitted to is unacceptable — in any industry. I applaud everybody speaking out,” Van Der Beek added.
The “What Would Diplo Do” star went public with his story after people began judging the dozens of women who came forward to accuse Weinstein of sexual harassment and rape.

“Read this for perspective,” he said, with a link a The Cut piece, adding: “Also for anyone brushing off harassment as ‘boys being boys.’”
Van Der Beek is not the first man to reveal his own experience with sexual misconduct in Hollywood. Actor Terry Crews shared a lengthy account of being groped in the genital area by a “high level Hollywood executive” in 2016.
“This whole thing with Harvey Weinstein is giving me PTSD,” he wrote. “Why? Because this kind of thing happened to ME.”
