SEE IT: Laura Benanti returns as Melania Trump on ‘Late Show’
Laura Benanti’s Melania Trump is far more chatty than the real one.
The “Supergirl” alum returned to Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show” Wednesday in her First Lady persona to push back against Michael Wolff’s “Fire and Fury.”
The real Melania Trump issued just one statement about the book, saying she “supported her husband’s decision to run for President” and that she was “confident he would win and was very happy when he did.”
“The book is clearly going to be sold in the bargain fiction section,” her press office said.
But Benanti’s Trump joined the “Late Show” by satellite in the middle of a mission to dig her way out of the White House.
“Pure fiction. Fake book. Every single word is lie,” “Melania” said.

The rumors that she cried on Election Night, however, were true.
“But they were tears of happiness. You know, like you do at your wedding or every morning in the mirror,” she said.
But she doesn’t always cry tears of joy.
“Sometimes,” she said, “I have the dead-eyed stare of contentment.”
