Charlize Theron’s mother bought her marijuana
Charlize Theron can count on her mother for anything — even scoring her marijuana.
The actress revealed her mom, Gerda Maritz, bought her a small dose of weed in California — where the substance is legal — to help her overcome her sleeping issues.
“I have really bad sleep and so does my mom, and so we were talking about it because we do take sleep medication,” Theron recalled Wednesday on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
“I was saying to her, ‘You know, maybe we should figure out a way to try like a sleeping strain.’”

Theron, 42, expected she’d be the one to buy the pot to share with her mother, but was surprised to find out Gerda took the initiative to get it herself — without even telling the actress first.
Gerda then left a container of the product at Theron’s home for her.
“She was like, ‘So, I got some blueberry covered chocolate ones, but if you want it faster acting, you should go for the mint, because those you suck,’” Theron recalled.
Theron was happy to learn that the marijuana is indeed effective in helping her sleep.
Charlize Theron’s hottest moments
“It totally works,” she told Kimmel. “It’s amazing.”
Theron stars in the comedy “Gringo,” in theaters Friday, which centers on a man dispatched to Mexico to drop off a new marijuana pill. The movie also stars David Oyelowo.
