Tyra Banks doesn’t want her son to follow in her footsteps.

The supermodel, 44, admits she’s not crazy about the idea of her 2-year-old, York, one day becoming a model himself, because she says men often don’t receive the same status within the industry as women.

“Male models, I don’t know if they have the careers the female models tend to have,” Banks told Us Weekly. “The female models tend to joke and go, ‘They are our accessories. I have on earrings and some shoes, and I have a male model in the shot.’ You know, that’s kind of what the girls tend to joke about.”

That said, Banks assures she’s willing to offer advice should York ultimately pursue a modeling career.

“I wouldn’t love for him to model, but I wouldn’t tell him, ‘Don’t do it,’ because then he’d do it more. I’m going to support what he wants and just hope it’s not modeling, but if it is, I’ll be telling him how to smize,” Banks said, referring to her modeling technique calling for people to smile with their eyes.

York’s father is Erik Asla, a Norwegian photographer who dated Banks for four years before their breakup last fall.

Banks’ son, York, was born in January 2016.

Banks broke into the modeling industry as a 15-year-old and quickly became one of the industry’s most iconic stars. Her impressive resume includes an eight-year stint as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, twice landing the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issues and creating and hosting “America’s Next Top Model.”

She recently returned to “America’s Next Top Model” for its ongoing season after briefly stepping away from the series during its previous cycle. She’s currently hosting “America’s Got Talent” as well.

Meet Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model Danielle Herrington

In February, the supermodel helped surprise Sports Illustrated’s latest cover model, Danielle Herrington, by showing her a cardboard cutout of her cover for the first time.

Herrington has said she considers Banks, who was the first African-American model to appear on the SI Swim cover, to be one of her role models.
