Oliver Hudson was almost cast as Jack Pearson in ‘This is Us’
Would it have been easier to watch Jack Pearson die if it weren’t Milo Ventimiglia?
That was almost a possibility, Oliver Hudson revealed Tuesday.
The “Splitting Up Together” star said he read for the role of the “This is Us” star, but skipped the “chemistry read” with co-star Mandy Moore.
“I had a 10-day fishing trip planned, and it’s my life. Fishing is a big part of my life and it was this 10-day fishing trip,” he said on the “LadyGang” podcast.
“My agent said, ‘We got a test. They really like you,’ and I said, ‘Ooh, I’m supposed to be going on a fishing trip.’ He’s like, ‘OK. So? This is a big thing.’ And I said, ‘You know what? I’m going to do my fishing trip.'”
Hopefully Hudson’s fishing trip was fruitful, because Ventimiglia rocketed to “Gilmore Girls”-level success with his role as the ill-fated Pearson patriarch.
Season three of the hit NBC show is expected to air in September.
