Webby winners David Letterman and Jesse Williams keep it short
Jimmy Kimmel, David Letterman, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jesse Williams and Susan Fowler were among the Webby Award winners at Cipriani Wall Street on Monday.
The evening was hosted by “Late Night” comedian Amber Ruffin and included a short but sweet speech from fellow evening show star Jimmy Kimmel, who used the platform to thank those who made his popular “Celebrities Read Mean Tweets” segment possible.
“Thank you, a–holes on Twitter,” the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host said upon getting a People’s Voice Award. .
Honorees kept it short, offering only five word speeches.
“Thank you. Tears of Joy,” Letterman said, brushing away fake tears while collecting a Special Achievement award for his Netflix show “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.”

“Grey’s Anatomy star Williams used his handful or words to inspire others.
“Afraid? Okay. Do it Afraid,” Williams said while also being presented a Special Achievement Award by musician Swizz Beatz.
Social activist and former Uber executive Susan Fowler won Webby Person of the Year for her work in exposing sexual harassment at the tech-driven livery company.
“Words can change the world,” she said upon accepting that honor.
